Principal Investigator
Dr. Natalie Cápiro is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Biosystems Engineering at Auburn University. Previously, Dr. Cápiro was a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tufts University, and a postdoctoral fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University, and B.S. in Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. Dr. Cápiro’s research interests include applied environmental microbiology, molecular techniques to monitor microbial communities, fate and transport of legacy and emerging contaminants in natural systems, and nanotechnology-biological interactions in the environment. Her work is supported by funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation, and the Department of Defense through the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP).
Dr. Cápiro will be starting a new position as an Assistant Professor at Cornell University in the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering in summer 2023. Please refer to her new faculty profile for more information.
